About the role
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for effective performance management and execution of retail operations, including merchandising, staffing, and patient order fulfillment. The GM works closely with Assistant General Managers to drive business management and financial performance of the dispensary.
Responsibilities
- Hire, train, schedule, and manage staff to achieve sales, profit, and customer satisfaction goals while meeting all deadlines.
- Drive a culture of positive employee engagement with a focus on inclusion and diversity.
- Mentor, coach, and develop the team through performance succession planning to exceed company expectations and support employee growth.
- Ensure effective team communication by hosting monthly staff meetings, maintaining an open-door policy, and welcoming patient feedback.
- Actively manage inventory, recalls, returns, and pricing to meet cost and sales targets.
- Oversee cash controls, financial reporting, and ensure accuracy in check registers, cash outs, bank logs, inventory, and deposits.
- Manage service labor, scheduling, and payroll budget effectively.
- Perform business management operations and analyses, including P&L, and develop KPI reports to monitor opportunities and challenges.
- Proactively monitor dispensary profit and loss, developing mitigation strategies between actual performance and company budget.
- Maintain awareness of cannabis and retail trends to create innovative strategies and work closely with grower-processors to understand products.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and correct violations with urgency.
- Collaborate with corporate teams (HR, Finance, Marketing) to meet company standards.
- Oversee compliance with regulations, safety measures, security issues, and legal matters.
- Partner with the Director of Education and Medical Professional to ensure team cohesion and promote feedback from retail staff and medical teams.
- Serve as an expert lead in seed-to-sale tracking systems, POS, LEAF TRADE, and e-commerce platforms.
- Be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in retail, restaurant, food, or other service industries with financial responsibility.
- Cannabis experience highly preferred.
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills with a focus on empathy and servant-leadership.
- Proven management proficiency in high-volume retail with P&L accountability.
- Ability to create and maintain a customer-focused culture.
- Must meet the minimum age criteria mandated by state cannabis regulations for this role.
- Must pass a background check.

Pay
$66,000 - $71,000 a year
