General Manager 3 - Food

Leads all university dining operations, including food quality, customer service, staffing, safety, financial performance, and client relations. Manages labor and food costs while ensuring an excellent student dining experience. This position is ideal for a Chef transitioning into a General Manager role, with hands-on culinary responsibilities.

About the Role

In this leadership role, you will oversee daily food service operations, ensuring exceptional quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. You’ll guide and develop your team while managing financial performance and building strong relationships with clients and customers to support sustained success. Accountable for managing people, setting direction, and deploying resources, including performance evaluations, pay reviews, and hire/fire decisions. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others, relying on influence and negotiation across the organization. Progression reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business knowledge, and leadership capabilities. Responsible for business, functional, or operational areas, processes, or programs, which may include dotted-line or matrixed management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily food service operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Guide and develop teams while managing financial performance and client relationships.
• Manage people, set direction, and deploy resources, including performance evaluations and staffing decisions.
• Drive operational excellence while meeting financial goals and performance targets.
• Build and maintain strong client and customer partnerships to enhance service quality and loyalty.
• Collaborate across departments to innovate and improve service delivery.

Requirements

• Proven experience in food service management or directorship, preferably in large or complex settings.
• Leadership skills with a track record of building positive team culture, employee retention, and staff development.
• Solid financial expertise, including budgeting, cost control, and performance analysis.
• Hands-on, results-oriented approach with the ability to support and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years of management experience.
• 2-5 years of related experience.

Pay

Pay Range: $64,600 – $83,600 per year. Eligible to participate in Sodexo's incentive plan and earn variable compensation in addition to base salary.
