POSITION SUMMARY
The General Maintenance Associate will provide maintenance services as needed for the campus. This position requires the Associate to perform a variety of different tasks and activities to ensure the facility remains in good working order. This position will require the operation of equipment such as box trucks, forklifts, tractors, mowers, plows, snow blowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Physical support of custodial efforts, sustainability/recycling efforts, and facilities and grounds maintenance.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Security responsibilities include occasional visitor escort and monitoring.
- General facilities duties including, but not limited to painting, replacing light bulbs, cleaning, general repair, and furniture moving.
- General cleaning to include sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and restroom cleanup.
- General grounds duties including, but not limited to watering, mowing, landscaping, weeding, and shoveling.
- Operation and maintenance of company equipment and tools.
- Adequate preparations for events, furniture arrangement and equipment.
- Maintenance of projects and efficient completion of projects in a safe manner.
- Maintenance and cleaning of buildings and grounds.
- Works closely with supervisor to ensure projects are completed.
- Participates in meetings, trainings or workshops as required.
- Perform general maintenance work; i.e. painting, carpentry, equipment, set up, cleaning, etc.
- Establish time frames and completion of projects.
- Documents status of work / activity logs.
- Repairs – ensuring a safe work conditions.
- Resolve immediate emergency safety concerns during and after hours.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years facilities/general maintenance or landscape experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- The ability to work safe.
- Attention to detail with a focus on productivity.
- Motivated with a strong work ethic and possess a great attitude.
- Be a team player, but be able to work self-directed and be self-sufficient.
- Mechanical, hand tool, and custodial equipment competence and general do-it-yourself aptitude.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, being able to interact well with others.
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license with a current address and acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Be available to work during unplanned emergencies (snow storms, building emergencies).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to hear the normally spoken word at 25 feet.
- Ability to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
- Ability to operate cleaning and grass-cutting machines.
- Ability to stand for prolonged period of time.
- Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time.
- Indoors and outdoors in normal environment with some exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes.
- Mobility within the building including movement from floor to floor and outside the building.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs. on a repetitive basis.
- May handle human body fluids and chemicals as part of operational duties.
