General Liability Attorney

About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Liability Attorney with at least five years of insurance defense experience, including recent experience handling general liability and tort litigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage general liability and insurance defense cases from initial pleadings through discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Develop litigation strategies and advise clients and insurance carriers on case status, risks, and potential outcomes.
• Participate in depositions, court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other litigation proceedings.
• Communicate effectively with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties.
• Monitor case deadlines, maintain accurate billing records, and manage client expectations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying business development opportunities.
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal professionals on complex litigation matters.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of insurance defense experience, including general liability and tort litigation.
• Active Wisconsin bar admission required; Illinois or Indiana bar admission is a plus.
• Recent insurance defense experience within the last three years.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage cases independently through multiple stages of litigation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Familiarity with insurance defense billing requirements.
• Ability to meet an annual billable requirement of 1,850 hours.
