Position Location
This position is posted in Reston, VA with additional locations available in Huntsville, AL or Anchorage, AK. Relocation assistance is not available.
Job Overview
The General Ledger Manager will oversee financial close processes, ensure reporting accuracy, and maintain compliance within a government contracting environment. This role focuses on improving close efficiency and supporting audit readiness.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and scaling of a high-performing team, cultivating a data-driven culture, driving change and automation, ensuring transparency, and maintaining a strong focus on meeting the needs of both internal and external customers
- Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls to ensure accurate reporting
- Responsible for transaction accuracy, compliance, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, including FAR, CAS, and GAAP, regarding all accounting functions
- Aid with the preparation of annual indirect rate budgets, provide reporting, and support the development of forecasts
- Responsible for general ledger and balance sheet management
- Manage audits from external agencies, including DCAA, IRS, outside CPA firms, regulatory agencies, and Incurred Cost Submissions
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Reconcile and maintain cost pools
- Collaborate with and support tax
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Mandatory: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- At least 6-10 years progressively responsible management positions within the government contracting industry
- Expertise with cost pool allocations
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
- Intermediate to Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
- Working knowledge of GAAP, working knowledge of government contracting rules and regulations, and Cost Accounting Standards a plus
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Developed problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Ability to multi-task and manage time accordingly to meet deadlines
- Excellent presentation & communication skills in both oral and written form
Preferred
- CPA or CMA
- Experience with Lawson and Oracle Fusion
