General Ledger Accountant II
Job Description
Collects, analyzes, monitors, and reports on the organization’s financial matters, managing and ensuring compliance with the organization’s financial policies, internal controls, and professional standards and all laws.
Responsible for general accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable and expense reimbursement and revenue accounting (including accounts receivable).
This role is hybrid during the training period and will transition to a fully remote position upon successful completion of training.
- Candidates must be local to the Houston area to support the initial in-office training requirements and any occasional business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Supports financial statement preparation and internal management reporting.
- Utilizes strong organization skills to maintain accounting information and system integrity in accordance with standards and rules under GAAP & other regulating bodies and to support both internal and external audit requests.
- Solves moderately complex to complex problems and analyzes possible solutions using technical experience, judgement and precedents for continuous process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Explains complex and/or sensitive information in a straightforward manner through excellent communication skills.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues, including collaborating with AP, AR, & FP&A teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and develop Excel models and reporting tools from concept to completion.
Education
A demonstrated proficiency in Excel
Strong understanding of US GAAP and month-end close processes
Typically requires 2+ years of related work experience
