About the role
St. Louis, MO Job Description The General Ledger Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records by managing journal entries, performing month-end close activities, and reconciling subledgers to the general ledger. This position requires a strong understanding of account structures, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to investigate and resolve variances. You will use advanced Excel skills and financial systems to support timely, accurate reporting and continuous improvement of accounting processes.

- Investigate and resolve reconciliation issues by digging into transaction details, determining root causes, and proposing or implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare and post both one-off journal entries and batch upload templates, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal guidelines.
- Troubleshoot journal entry and batch import errors by interpreting system messages, determining whether issues are data- or system-related, and fixing or escalating as appropriate.
- Build reconciliation workbooks from scratch in Excel to support balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
- Use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and table joins in Excel to analyze financial data and validate the integrity of journal entries and reconciliations.

- Exposure to business warehouse (BW) or similar financial reporting and data tools.
