Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the following landscaping duties:
  • Lawn mowing
  • Trimming
  • Edging
  • Pruning
  • Weeding
  • Aerating
  • Thatching
  • Snow Removal
  • Installing and repairing underground sprinkler system
  • Mechanic for landscaping equipment
  • Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, roof drains, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times
  • Assist in the development of schedules for routine grounds activities, as well as short and long range plans for construction, landscaping, and major repairs to or replacement of grounds equipment
  • Trim, mow, water, and weed all planted areas as necessary
  • Maintain tools and equipment and guard against breakage, loss, and theft
  • Operate all maintenance vehicles in a safe and lawful manner
  • Monitor fuel and water systems according to state requirements
  • Remain on school premises for entire shift unless required to leave for work-related errands or meetings
  • Assist with the set-up and coordination of school and public use of facilities
  • Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as attendance at in-services
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise
  • Represent the school district in a positive manner
  • Know and follow school district policy and chain of command
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • Education And/Or Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred; Three to five years of related experience preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Hold a current and valid Idaho Motor Vehicle License with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to perform long periods of standing; walking; climbing; bending; stooping; kneeling; bending and twisting at the neck and trunk; moving of furniture; pushing/pulling items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines; frequent lifting of objects weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally move objects weighing up to ninety pounds; and climbing ladders
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, to reach above the head and reach forward, to grasp tools

  • Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze and interpret governmental regulations and legal documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or the general public.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
  • Productivity/Efficiency Skills: Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.
  • Mental Skills: Ability to conduct basic math functions. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Other Skills And Abilities: Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing (Microsoft Office) and spreadsheets (Excel).

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside and occasionally meets deadlines with severe time constraints.
