General Laborer - Terminal

Overview

We are currently hiring General Laborers to support our operations. This is a great opportunity for a dependable, hands-on individual responsible for performing basic labor tasks in support of terminal & stevedoring operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cargo for loading/unloading
• Follow loading plans
• Place and retrieve timbers on cargoes as needed
• General housekeeping duties to maintain a safe work environment
• Heavy lifting duties
• Assist with hooking on and unhooking cargoes on the vessel and terminal operations
• Observe all safety rules and use good safety work habits

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED
• Willingness to work in outdoor and marine environments under varying weather conditions
• Ability to perform manual labor including lift 50 lbs regularly throughout a shift, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Attention to detail and safety protocols
• Ability to work at heights, within enclosed spaces, in noisy environments with moving equipment, and in adverse climatic conditions
• Informing the supervisor of damaged or unsafe cargo
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Able to present information in one-on-one group situations with fellow employees and customers
• Must have valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a TWIC card
