Responsibilities
- Assist in the construction and installation of a utility grade solar project throughout all phases of construction.
- Report to a management approved supervisor who may be reassigned as workload changes.
- Prepare work areas for installation of various equipment.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
- Absorb minor hand tool work, bolting and unbolting of PV solar racks using manual or power tools.
- Work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, mud, etc.
- Assist with pulling wire through trenches.
- Perform minor hand tool work as needed.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not always required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to work in extreme outdoor environments (hot sun, cold, wet weather, mud, etc.).
- Must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Must be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds of weight safely without assistance throughout the assigned workday.
- Must be able to work 8-12 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required, including occasional night shifts.
- Physical work is a primary part (more than 80%) of the job.
- Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers is a primary part of the job.
