About the role

Depending on schooling or training, there are many different jobs available. Some of the jobs we offer include assembly/packaging, laser cutting, CNC forming and tube bending, hand and robotic welding, and others.

Responsibilities

• Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints.
• Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
• Removes small quantities of metal with hand files, hand drills and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
• Touches up parts with paint as needed.
• Operates drill presses, pemming, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation.
• Inspects parts to assure that all processes have been completed and match the Shop Order.
• Packages parts per shop orders.
• Remove and count parts from metal skeletons.
• Operates drill presses in Laser area to prepare for next operation.
• Inspects parts to assure that all processes have been completed and match the Shop Order.
• Stacks and sorts parts as needed for the next operation.
• Affirms that all safety procedures, inspections procedures, start-up procedures, and housekeeping procedures are followed.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
• Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
• Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
• Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from lasers, carts or shelves.
• Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas for manufacturing or other operations.
• Lifts metal part or stock onto machine and secures it on machine table, in chuck, or holding fixture to assist in setting up machine.
• Feds metal parts or stock into automatic metalworking machines and removes machined part from machine after prescribed period of time or at end of machining cycle.
• Adds coolant to reservoirs of machines and lubricates machine parts and ways.
• Removes metal chips and shavings from surfaces of machines and wipes surfaces of machines to remove excess oil.
• Separates metal shavings, chips, and scrap materials from trash and places them in bins.
• Removes burrs or excess metal from machined parts.
• Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
• Removes small quantities of metal with hand files, hand drills and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
• All secondary operations including touching-up, metal finishing, counter sinking as needed.
• Operates drill presses, pemming, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation.
• Inspects parts to assure that all processes have been completed and match the Shop Order and print.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
• Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)
