Pay

$20–$23/hr

  • Attendance Incentive – Up to $2400 bonus for good attendance (refer to policy for rules and details)
  • Referral Bonus – Up to $500 per referral (refer to policy for rules and details)
  • Hiring Bonus – Up to $1000 (refer to policy for rules and details)
  • Step increase program – Pay will increase by $0.50 after 90 days and again after 180 days (Material Handlers only)
  • Certified/qualified Forklift/Walkie Rider/Cherry Picker drivers receive an additional $0.50 per hour
  • Certified/qualified Reach Truck drivers receive an additional $1.00 per hour

About the role

The objective of the General Labor position is to receive product using an RF scanner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient operation of the warehouse
  • Utilize RF Scanner, manual product picking QC, wrapping, staging, and labeling
  • Load and unload RJW truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers equipment
  • Flexible to work 10- to 12-hour shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights
  • Pick and move stock from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times
  • Ensure all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly
  • Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping
  • Process outbound cross-dock freight as necessary
  • Oversee storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the storage racks
  • Record and verify the accuracy of shipments against paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments/deliveries
  • Ensure all documentation and paperwork is properly completed
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures
  • Handle all customer products properly and orderly
  • Check deliveries for poor packing, general condition of materials, and damage; alert Warehouse Supervisor of any problems, taking pictures if necessary
  • Report all accidents/incidents, damage of stock, or building damage to the Shift Supervisor immediately
  • Spot trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day
  • Maintain access to dock doors both inside and outside the facility, keeping them free of debris or snow
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager/supervisor

Additional responsibilities:

  • Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and ability to work with limited supervision
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Good communication, problem resolution, and people skills
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed and supplying coverage to other shifts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse

Requirements

  • 3–6 months of General Labor experience in a warehouse using an RF scanner
  • Good stable work record
  • Warehousing certifications a plus
  • Ability to communicate, read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to determine "root cause" of problems and determine corrective action

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons
  • Articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others
  • Regularly work in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, bend over, squat, reach, push, pull, stand, and walk
  • Ability to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required
  • Ability to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and concentrate on more than one task at a time
  • Ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision
  • Ability to speak and communicate clearly over telephones
  • Sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • Noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud
