General Labor- Hatchery

About the role

Performing a variety of tasks to facilitate operation of the hatchery.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning incubators, counting eggs/chicks, separating/culling chicks, assisting vaccinators, loading/unloading eggs, and keeping work areas clean/organized
• Adheres to all safety requirements, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures, and Process Safety Management-related matters
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment
• Participates in Company and department safety programs

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to work with others in a close environment
• Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work quickly and multitask

Physical Requirements

• Exposed to temperatures up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity up to 100%
• Exposed to chemicals and vaccines to be covered in MSDS training and hazardous communications
• Use of personal protective equipment as required
• Ability to lift 40 lbs. to a height of 6 feet, to push 75 lbs. a distance of 75 feet and lift 20–25 lbs. to a height of 3 feet
• Must be able to work in a wet, damp, dusty (chick down) environment
• Must be able to use a broom, shovel, mop, and scrub brushes
• Work with chemicals to effectively wash and disinfect equipment/work area
• Frequent stooping and kneeling
