About the Role

The General Labor is an Individual Contributor responsible for performing various non-technical tasks throughout the plant including operation of cranes, forklifts or simple machinery. Essential Functions
Aid other workers by performing specific or general duties, usually of lesser skill
Keep other workers supplied with material, tools and supplies
Perform routing machine operations such as feeding or unloading machines
Setup and operate a variety of grinding machines
Perform operator inspections on crane and forklift
Other duties as required and/or assigned

Responsibilities

  • Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment
  • Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment
  • Actively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor

Requirements

  • The ability to run a floor sweeper
  • The ability to calculate simple mathematics
  • The ability to read a tape measure
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 20 pounds
  • The ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of a forklift and scissor lift
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Six (6) months previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • One (1) year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Qualifications

Pay

Starting Wage $20.75/hr + $1.50/hr shift differential

Schedule

2nd Shift (4:00 pm - 2:30 pm; M-F)
