General Labor (1st Shift)

About the Role

AHF Products has a career opportunity for a General Laborer at our Sawmill in Smoot, WV. Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, you will ensure a steady flow of lumber throughout the mill.

Responsibilities

• Physically handle lumber by pulling from chain and placing in appropriate pack.
• Use crosscut saw to cut off bad ends.
• Band finished packs.
• Complete clean-up and ground maintenance of assigned areas.
• Clean and maintain equipment.
• Perform any other work-related task deemed necessary by mill management.

Requirements

• Ability to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification, and drug screening.
• Positive and verifiable work history.
• Prior sawmill experience.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (20–50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Demands

• Push, pull, carry, and lift 20–50 lbs.
• Frequent walking and sitting.
• Regular stretching, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, grasping, and other repetitive movements.
• Must be able to communicate, hear, comprehend, and write in English.
• Frequent exposure to dust and noise (hearing protection required).
• Must be able and willing to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, exposed to weather conditions.
