General Interest Instructor - Education

About the role

The General Interest Instructor - Education instructs and leads a variety of educational classes, approved by the Sr Recreation Coordinator of Education, to community members. The position also manages people safely in indoor and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate classes content and demonstrates competency in teaching.
• Communicates clearly with coordinator and community members.
• Informs supervisor of any safety concerns regarding facility, equipment, or participants.
• Informs supervisor of conditions and needed supplies.
• Supervise people safely in indoor and outdoor environments.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Public speaking experience.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification required.

• Ability to thoroughly follow directions furnished in a variety of formats.
• Ability to communicate effectively and patiently, especially with older adults.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and participants.
• Strong presentation skills.

• Strong understanding of technology, not limited to cell phones, GPS locators, and email.
• Ability to solve practical problems.

Pay

The hourly rate is $15.00 - 17.00 per hour, based on relevant experience.
