General Helper
About the Role
Initial job is General Helper; once qualified, you may progress to Machine Operator, Palletizer/Unitizer Operator, Shipper Loader, Biller/Receiver, Stacker, or Utility. Training is on 1st Shift (7:00am–3:00pm), with hiring for 2nd Shift (3:00pm–11:00pm) and 3rd Shift (11:00pm–7:00am). Physical location: Atglen Container, 4581 Lower Valley Road, Atglen PA 19310.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely run machines and follow all safety rules and practices at all times
- Count and stack finished product
- Learn customer requirements and specifications by reading factory work orders, print cards, and design specifications
- Utilize basic shop math
- Accurately read tape measures, gauges and other test equipment
- Coordinate activities with other machine crew members to efficiently set up and run orders
- Operate lift trucks in a safe and effective manner
- Ensure correct product is sent through appropriate production line
- Ensure correct strapping patterns for product, and that loads are strapped with proper dunnage according to instructions and customer-specific requests
- Monitor loads and notify supervisor regarding any product issues
- Monitor take-off line following strapping process, and load material onto designated trucks, requiring accurate record of load tallies
- Transport product to the appropriate areas of the warehouse as needed
- Load warehoused product from the warehouse to the loading dock, as well as receive product from incoming trucks, sign for the receipt of it, and transport to designated department
- Turn in proper paperwork to the shipping office
- Rotate as needed between strapper position, take-off line lift truck and floor driver lift truck operation procedures
- Sweep trailers and floor areas
- Complete a daily safety check list, change propane tanks, and check the fluids and air filters on their lift truck
- Maintain quality and production standards as required by the company
- Continually monitor the quality and quantity of production
- Maintain housekeeping continually during the assigned shift
- Perform quality inspections and tests, and record findings
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
Qualifications & Skills
- 1 year of hands-on industrial plant manufacturing experience
- Corrugated industry experience preferred
- Sit-down forklift/pull pack experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to accurately read a tape measurer and ruler
- Ability to use basic shop math
- Ability to learn, follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team
Pay
$25.01/hr during probationary period, then $26.14/hr up to $31.19/hr once qualified in position. Hourly full-time, Monday–Friday.
