About the role

Oversee a team responsible for inspections, repairs, maintenance, and modifications for cars and/or locomotives, utilizing production machinery and materials. Essential Functions

  • Supervises equipment inspection, maintenance, and repair programs to enhance availability and reliability.
  • Provides primary leadership for shift or facility, ensuring effective communication of mechanical, safety, and material issues.
  • Utilizes Safety Management System to identify and address risks through analysis and execution.
  • Ensures compliance with Amtrak and regulatory requirements for rolling stock maintenance.
  • Manages scheduling and execution of work orders, overseeing proper documentation and recording of results.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. Plus 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working on machinery in an industrial, marine, railroad, or plant environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership/management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to safety program methodology and its application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. Plus 5 years of relevant work experience.

Pay

  • The salary for General Foreman I is $110,000 and the salary for General Foreman II is $122,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
  • Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary.
  • Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
