General Extender

About the role

RAYUS Radiology is seeking a General Extender to join their team. The role involves augmenting physicians' ability to provide medical interpretation services, assisting in report creation, and ensuring compliance with AHA and ACR Guidelines. The position is full-time, remote, and works 40 hours per week, including overnight shifts from 8p-4a EST with weekend rotations and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Augment a physician's ability to provide medical interpretation services to patients
• Assist in the creation of Radiology Final Reports, editing for accuracy and compliance with AHA and ACR Guidelines
• Work directly with radiologists to place radiographic findings into appropriate reports for all modalities of radiology
• Requires strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
• Transcribe radiographic dictations into radiographic reports
• Prepare completed reports for distribution to clients
• Manage the work list of patient orders and distribute to appropriate radiologists and/or sub-specialty worklist
• Work closely with other General Extenders to ensure all orders are read by radiologists within the required turnaround time

Requirements

• Associate's degree in health science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• One (1) year experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or Medical Editor
• One (1) year work experience requiring daily use of medical terminology and demonstrating knowledge of human anatomy

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare, or related field
• Two (2) years' experience working in Diagnostic Technology, or other related anatomy/medically focused area

Qualifications

• Required: Associate's degree in health science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Required: One (1) year experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or Medical Editor
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in healthcare, or related field
• Preferred: Two (2) years' experience working in Diagnostic Technology, or other related anatomy/medically focused area

Skills

• Strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
• Daily use of medical terminology
• Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy
