General Engineer
About the role
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a General Engineer (Interdisciplinary /GS-0801-13) to work at Scott AFB, IL within Air Mobility Command (AMC). This role involves coordinating requirements, developing strategies, and recommending solutions to ensure operational capabilities across AMC and some non-AMC locations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate between all AMC locations and some non-AMC locations to consolidate requirements, develop strategies, and recommend solutions to ensure operational capabilities.
- Manage Facility Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (FSRM) projects, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and guidelines.
- Develop and implement project plans, budgets, and schedules for facility sustainment, restoration, and modernization efforts.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for facility engineering and architecture projects, ensuring adherence to design standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and improve program effectiveness through comprehensive planning and analysis.
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ Facility Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (FSRM) experience.
- Mastery of advanced concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques of professional facility engineering/architecture.
- Knowledge of facility planning/programming principles and work classification.
- Knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles; financial systems; restrictions on the expenditures of funds; and applicable public laws.
- Ability to devise and apply new approaches and standards to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted and established practices and procedures.
Qualifications
- US citizenship is required.
- An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Extensive professional knowledge of several engineering disciplines to manage projects with a wide variety of architectural and engineering facets.
- Broad application of professional engineering knowledge across multiple disciplines, with no single engineering specialization being paramount.
