General Education Paraprofessional (Kindergarten)

About the Role
We are seeking an Elementary General Education Paraprofessional to join our Kindergarten team. The qualified applicant will possess a strong ability to develop positive rapport with young learners of diverse backgrounds, maintain clear and consistent expectations, support learning activities and student behavior with skill and enthusiasm, and communicate effectively and professionally with team members. Experience working with young children is preferred.
The purpose of this role is to assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing a quality instructional program to continuously improve student achievement and character development.
Responsibilities
- Direct Instructional Support
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by the teacher.
- Participates in prescribed instructional activities with students.
- Supervision and Student Support
- Provides supervision of students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds, common areas, and buses, as well as at off-site events such as field trips.
- Performs assigned non-instructional classroom duties, such as breakfast and snack time management and support with class transitions.
- Indirect Instructional Support
- Assists the teacher in preparing materials and equipment for direct instructional activity, including locating, copying, collating, distributing, and/or grouping materials to support instructional activities planned by the teacher.
- Other Duties
- Other duties as requested by the Principal in support of students and/or the school program.
Schedule
Paraprofessionals work 7.5 hours per day when school is in session, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
