General Counsel / Fee Attorney

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal oversight and support for residential and commercial real estate closings.
• Review, analyze, and certify title commitments, title policies, and title opinions.
• Manage title curative matters, resolve title defects, and address risk-related issues.
• Advise on real estate contracts, settlement documents, and transaction compliance.
• Provide legal guidance and support to lenders, title professionals, and real estate stakeholders throughout the closing process.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Texas real estate and title insurance regulations.
• Assist with operational and legal matters impacting title company clients.

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role by advising on title matters, regulatory compliance, risk management, and closing operations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Texas.
• Experience handling real estate transactions, title law, or closing matters.
• Prior experience as a title company attorney, underwriting counsel, or similar role preferred.
• Strong understanding of title review, title curative processes, closing procedures, and title insurance requirements.
• Familiarity with title software and closing platforms.
• Ability to manage a high-volume transactional workload while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Practical, business-oriented approach to legal matters.

A strong background in real estate law, title insurance, and closing transactions is required, with the ability to provide practical legal solutions while supporting a fast-paced transactional environment.
