General Counsel

About the role

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee legal and regulatory strategy for a diverse range of financial products
• Negotiate and finalize commercial agreements for all organizational transactions
• Conduct regulatory analysis on cryptocurrencies, ensuring compliance with securities and commodities laws
• Manage corporate governance frameworks including entity formation, board activities, and financing documentation
• Implement compliance protocols covering AML, KYB, and partner onboarding processes
• Act as the primary legal advisor in direct negotiations, engaging with counterparties autonomously
• Address employment, intellectual property, privacy, and general corporate legal issues as they arise

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one US jurisdiction
• 8-12 years of legal practice, with a mix of experience from a top law firm and in-house at a digital asset or fintech firm
• Expertise in digital asset regulations, with a strong track record in token classification and licensing
• Strong background in secured lending or structured finance, with practical experience drafting related documentation
• Experience handling offshore structures and multijurisdictional legal matters
• Understanding of digital asset product mechanics, including smart contracts and related technologies
• Experience in a sole legal officer role, with a willingness to build a legal team as the company grows

Pay

$210,000 – $250,000 annually
