About us
Long-standing Heavy Civil Construction firm seeks a new General Counsel to oversee all legal matters, corporate governance, risk management, and strategic legal advice.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal support to the leadership team on corporate governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and employment law.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure company compliance with all laws, regulations, and obligations in operating jurisdictions.
- Develop and implement company policies and procedures related to legal matters, aligning them with company objectives and legal requirements.
- Manage employment law issues, including contracts, employee rights, and dispute resolutions.
- Oversee risk management strategies, identifying potential legal risks and developing mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel, managing relationships and ensuring cost-effective support.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations, providing updates and strategic advice to leadership.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a General Counsel or similar role in engineering or a related industry.
- Extensive knowledge of corporate governance, employment law, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Proven experience in legal writing, drafting, and reviewing legal documents.
- Strong background in providing strategic legal advice and managing legal risks.
- Excellent negotiation skills for representing the company in complex legal discussions.
- Exceptional communication skills to explain complex legal matters clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for sound decision-making.
- Current license to practice law in the state (required).
