About the role

The General Construction Laborer provides hands-on support for commercial and airport construction projects by assisting with site preparation, material handling, equipment operation, and general construction activities. This position works alongside project supervisors, skilled tradespeople, and construction teams to maintain safe and organized work environments while supporting daily field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general construction labor duties in support of commercial and airport construction projects.
  • Prepare and maintain construction sites by removing debris, cleaning work areas, and eliminating potential hazards.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with erecting, maintaining, and dismantling scaffolding, barricades, fencing, and other temporary structures.
  • Excavate trenches, compact soil, backfill excavations, and perform other site preparation activities as directed.
  • Operate and assist with construction equipment and machinery under the direction of qualified personnel.
  • Transport materials, tools, and equipment throughout the job site using company vehicles when authorized.
  • Support skilled trades including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, equipment operators, and other construction professionals.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Assist with securing job sites, materials, and equipment at the end of each workday.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, airport security requirements, and project-specific procedures.
  • Perform other construction support duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in commercial, industrial, or airport construction environments.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions throughout the workday.
  • Basic knowledge of construction safety practices, personal protective equipment (PPE), and job site procedures.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions while working effectively as part of a construction team.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
  • Experience operating construction equipment or heavy machinery (preferred).
  • Familiarity with airport construction environments, security procedures, and access requirements (preferred).
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (preferred).
  • Training or certification in trenching, excavation, backfilling, scaffolding, or related construction activities (preferred).
