PRIMARY PURPOSE
To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them clean, sanitary, and orderly.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, curtain tips, vents, and ledges in a counter-clockwise direction.
Cleaning the High Duster: Gently brush the duster into a service cart in a downward direction.
Sanitizing/Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, clean surfaces below shoulder height, such as ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trashcans in a counter-clockwise direction.
Using Proper Solution: Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls, and spot clean windows.
Bathroom Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, clean above and below sinks, toilet seats, and outside of toilet bowls, and inside the bowl with a Johnnie Mop. Check and refill soap and paper dispensers daily.
Empty and Clean Trash Cans: Remove liners and wipe trash cans, then replace with a clean liner.
Floor Dusting/Vacuuming: Using a treated dust mophead, clean rooms using the "S" stroke, and sweep up dust onto a dustpan. Vacuum starting at the back of the room and working towards the door, ensuring to get under chairs and furniture.
Inspection: After cleaning, mentally review steps and visually check furniture placement, making corrections as needed.
Outside Areas: Empty and clean ash urns and trash cans, police sidewalks, flower beds, and curb line for trash and cigarette butts, spot clean spills, remove gum with a scraper, wipe benches, vending machines, and benches, and clean public area glass as necessary.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, sanitize tables, place chairs back under tables, spot clean for spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove accumulated dirty trays to wash room, clean using tray power washer, stack clean trays on shelf for recycled use, and police outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing: Using a germicidal solution, clean the floor starting at the back of the room, mopping under furniture and behind doors as you back out of the room.
Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly on doors before entering, be friendly and cheerful to customers, answer questions in a helpful, courteous manner, report anything broken or out of order to supervisor, work quietly and speak quietly, stay in assigned work area unless requested to go elsewhere, and maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Other Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet extraction and bonneting, auto scrub and buffing of floors, and tray power washing.
Qualifications
Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, communicate effectively, operate janitorial equipment, interpret chemical warning labels, and maintain physical fitness for assigned duties.
Physical requirements: Walking, standing, sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs., pushing/pulling, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, fingering, overhead reaching, sight, depth perception, hand-eye coordination.
