ManagementFull-time
About the role
To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in clean, sanitary and orderly condition and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.
Responsibilities
- High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, begin cleaning in a counter‑clockwise direction around the room — high dust surfaces above shoulder height (lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges). Clean the high duster by gently brushing downward into the service cart.
- Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, work counter‑clockwise around the room sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height (ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trash cans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls with proper solution. Spot clean windows.
- Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, wipe down in order: above and below sink; toilet seat and outside of toilet bowl; inside of toilet with a Johnnie Mop and proper germicidal solution, paying attention to the rim. Clean and check soap and paper dispensers daily; refill as needed.
- Empty Trash Cans: If liquid is inside, remove liner and wipe trash can; place a clean liner.
- Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Using a treated dust mophead, start at the back of the room with an “S” stroke to catch dust on the leading edge. Dust under all furniture and in restrooms, stopping just inside the door. Clean mophead with counter brush using a downward stroke; sweep dust onto dustpan and dispose into service cart. When vacuuming, start at the back and work toward the door, getting under chairs and other furniture.
- Grounds Care — Outside Areas: Clean and check several times daily: empty and clean ash urns and trash cans; police sidewalks, flower beds, and curb line for trash and cigarette butts; spot clean spills on sidewalk; remove gum with scraper; wipe benches and vending machines; wipe lower window ledges; high dust for dust and cobwebs; clean public area glass as necessary; police parking lot for trash.
- Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways. Ensure glass is cleaned several times daily; planters are cleaned and free from bird waste inside and out; check for cobwebs/high dust window areas at least twice per week; check all corners and edges for dirt, cobwebs, and debris.
- Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables; place chairs back under tables; spot clean spills; empty and clean trash cans; remove accumulated dirty trays to wash room and clean using tray power washer; stack clean trays on shelf for recycled use; police outside eating areas.
- Floor Sanitizing: Using proper germicidal solution, start at the back of the room; mop under furniture and behind doors while backing out.
- Self‑Inspection: After completing a room, mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement; make corrections as needed to prevent problems/complaints.
- Daily High‑Traffic Tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
- Customer Relations & Service: Knock lightly before entering occupied rooms; be friendly and cheerful; answer questions helpfully or refer to someone who can; report broken or out‑of‑order items to supervisor; work and speak quietly; reduce or eliminate noise; stay in assigned area unless directed by supervisor; no loud talking or laughing; maintain clean, neat personal appearance; report unfinished work to supervisor at shift end; always be courteous.
- Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Account Manager (e.g., floor care — stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrub and buffing of floors).
