About the role
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, preparing financial reports and reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policy. The General Accountant also owns commission payment processing: calculating, validating, and ensuring commissions are paid accurately, on time, and in line with contractual agreements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
- Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end close and financial reporting
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts
- Monitor AR/AP and support tax and regulatory filings
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Calculate, validate, reconcile, and process commission payments
- Review commission calculations and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare commission statements and maintain supporting documentation
- Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting and commission processes
- Assist with special projects and other finance-related duties as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of accounting experience
- Experience with commissions/incentive compensation and month-end close
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS
- Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP
- ERP/accounting systems experience; NetSuite a plus
- Comfortable using AI-assisted tools (e.g., reconciliation support, reporting, data analysis) to boost accuracy and efficiency
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset

Pay
CAD $65,000–$75,000
Schedule
Hybrid schedule: First week new hire training will be 3-5 days in office, then once per week in office on Thursdays.
