About the role

The General Maintenance Technician (GEN MAINT TECH) is responsible for performing various duties involving painting, minor repairs, and maintenance surveillance rounds throughout the hospital. Key responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repairs, painting, and snow removal. The position also involves adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide range of non-technical preventive maintenance and repairs for assigned facility and/or department to include basic plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning services.
  • Performs painting and minor wall repairs.
  • May be required to perform tasks of the other trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter, and/or locksmith.
  • Performs snow removal and other grounds work as needed.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
  • Prepares and maintains logs, records and charts.
  • Provides emergency maintenance as requested.
  • Maintains work area to ensure a clean and safe environment. Adheres to safety requirements as required.
  • Participates and attends departmental meetings and training. Maintains licensure as required.
  • Takes ownership of assignments; other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Communicates and listens effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge.
  • Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to “service”.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Education or Equivalency preferred.
  • Experience: 2 or more years in a maintenance role is required. 1 or more years of healthcare facility experience is preferred.

  • Ability to carry 50 pounds.

  • Able to distinguish letters, numbers or symbols accurately.

  • Able to work from step/extension ladders to 12 feet.

  • OSHA Category I - Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues require use of techniques of Universal Precautions as evidenced with blood borne pathogens standards.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155

In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
