Gem Pocatello Clinic Aide
About the role
The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program places community members with non-profits and public health organizations across the state in paid volunteer positions called AmeriCorps positions. These positions provide an education award and professional experience in a public health setting focusing service on mental health, and suicide intervention and prevention services. The opportunity is offered each year from September 1st to August 31st.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient intakes, point of care tests, phlebotomy, and hands out mental health resources.
- Assist in community outreach events and hand out mental health resources to those who need them.
- Hand out mental health resources to patients/clients who may need them.
- Help with the clinic pharmacy and medication dispersion.
Member Duties
This position will help increase, expand, and enhance health programs and services by helping patients along in the intake process, model mental health coping skills and strategies needed for resiliency, actively listen for indicators that the patient needs access to mental health resources and discreetly provide resources to the patient. This role directly supports priority populations while helping improve health outcomes and population wellbeing.
