About the role
The GED Instructor will play an essential role in helping refugee clients to prepare for the General Education Development (GED) test and will provide instruction on various subjects including mathematics, science, social studies and language arts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with GED curriculum standards in reading, writing, math, science and social studies.
- Assess refugee students’ academic levels and prepare students for each section of the GED test.
- Integrate technology and educational resources to enhance instruction and administer practice tests and evaluate readiness for official GED testing.
- Conduct regular student assessments to determine areas of improvement.
- Stay updated on the latest GED test requirements and inform refugee students accordingly.
- Continuously learn and apply new teaching strategies and resources to improve student’s outcome.
- Participate in and contribute to team meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, adult education, or related field required.
- 1 year of teaching experience, preferred.
- Previous experience working in a non-profit or government setting, preferred.
- Experience working with immigrants and refugees who have limited English proficiency, preferred.
