We are working with a client outside of Chicago looking for two Gearbox Technicians/Assemblers to join their team. Ability to assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot, and read blueprints is required.
Responsibilities
- Build up and test gearboxes and sub-assemblies (clutches, housings) according to blueprints, technical diagrams, and engineering specifications.
- Assemble, position, and align component parts such as bearings, shafts, gears, and bushings.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair gearboxes as needed.
- Utilize pneumatic tools, hand tools, torque wrenches, and hydraulic presses to securely fasten components.
- Inspect parts for defects, check for oil leaks, and perform measurements using micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- Operate overhead hoists, cranes, or forklifts to move heavy components.
- Maintain production logs and records of assembled units.
- Keep the workstation clean, organized, and adhere to safety protocols.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and bills of materials.
- 3-6 months or more of mechanical assembly experience (typically within a manufacturing setting), diesel mechanic experience, or industrial maintenance experience.
- Capable of standing for long periods, bending, and lifting heavy parts (up to 50+ lbs).
- Ability to identify issues with gear meshing or alignment.
