About the role
This role supports the assignment, sourcing, gathering, furnishing, and movement of financial and client information and data. Key responsibilities include fund setup, client identification data, pricing, and cost basis reporting. The position provides quality service and effective operations support for internal business partners and external clients.
Legal Order Operations processes third-party civil legal matters, including levies, garnishments, temporary restraining notices, and subpoenas served on the bank for civil matters involving Merrill and BANA when there is a Private Bank relationship.
Responsibilities
- Process third-party subpoenas served on the bank for civil matters.
- Act as a liaison to prepare witnesses for depositions.
- Restrict client accounts due to attachments received.
- Review complex legal documents and log key information for bank records responsive to the subpoena, applying state and federal laws to maintain compliance with proper service and customer notification requirements.
- Navigate dozens of systems to research and acquire responsive documents.
- Interact with state and government agencies and attorneys to negotiate scope, court appearances, and reasonable due dates for delivery.
- Use advanced organizational skills to maintain a large caseload with multiple moving parts.
- Accurately interpret legal documents.
- Manage caseload effectively and submit timely, accurate responses to legal matters.
- Communicate effectively with external third parties.
- Make decisions with minimal support.
- Perform moderately complex activities supporting the assignment, sourcing, gathering, furnishing, and movement of financial and client information and data according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Respond to moderately complex client inquiries via numerous channels to support operational efficiency and quality client service.
- Review and approve required account documentation.
- Identify risk and opportunities for process improvement based on an understanding of how the work impacts other operational units.
- Maintain knowledge of operational processes and assist in training less experienced team members.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to research, identify, and retrieve responsive documents across a variety of banking products, systems, and platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor communications to diverse audiences, actively listen, and provide timely follow-up and status updates.
- Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of delivering accurate and complete work product within required deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to leverage research, past experience, and available resources to develop effective solutions.
- Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and embrace new processes that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
