GDPS Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a GDPS Consultant with hands-on implementation experience to lead engagements, guide clients, and provide expert instruction and training. Our customers are new to GDPS and will rely on you as the authority on GDPS technologies, features, implementation, customization, and education.

Responsibilities

• Lead GDPS engagements, acting as the primary expert for clients unfamiliar with GDPS.
• Design, implement, and customize GDPS solutions tailored to client environments.
• Provide in-depth training to client teams, including management and operations, on GDPS functionality and customization.
• Configure and manage DASD and DSCLI, including scripting, DS8K carving (pools, LSS’s, volumes), and replication across IBM power devices.
• Ensure DS8K resiliency by distributing replication across multiple ports, cards, and I/O compartments.
• Implement z/OS PARMLIB and PROCLIB changes, CLIST updates, and RACF modifications to meet customer requirements and compliance standards (DORA, FFIEC, NIST).
• Configure sysplex environments for Metro Mirror and hyperswap capabilities, including minor updates across the sysplex.
• Set up and customize NetView and System Automation (zSA) from scratch, including DSIPARM and STGEN members for Metro Mirror or Global Mirror.
• Develop REXX code to meet specific customer requirements.
• Create and manage the Policy Data Base (PDB) required for GDPS functionality, including automation operators.
• Establish dual control and security parameters, focusing on initial commands to prevent outages.

Requirements

• Proven experience implementing GDPS solutions in client environments.
• Expertise in DASD and DSCLI, including scripting and DS8K configuration (pools, LSS’s, volumes).
• Strong knowledge of z/OS, sysplex, and replication technologies (Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, hyperswap).
• Experience with NetView and System Automation (zSA), including setup and customization.
• Proficiency in REXX coding and automation for mainframe environments.
• Familiarity with mainframe security and compliance standards (DORA, FFIEC, NIST).
• Ability to create and manage Policy Data Bases (PDB) for GDPS.
• Experience providing GDPS training and client enablement.
