GCMS Data Review Analyst

About the role

Our client is a well-established manufacturer serving the food and beverage industry and is seeking a detail-oriented GCMS Data Reviewer to join their analytical laboratory team. This position is ideal for an experienced analytical chemist who enjoys interpreting chromatographic data, ensuring data integrity, and supporting laboratory operations in a regulated environment. Candidates with experience in food & beverage, flavors & fragrances, environmental testing, or the tobacco industry are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret GC-MS analytical data for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established laboratory procedures.
• Evaluate chromatographic results and identify anomalies, interferences, or data quality concerns.
• Verify analytical results prior to release and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate with laboratory analysts to resolve data discrepancies and troubleshoot analytical issues.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation in accordance with laboratory quality systems.
• Support method validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and laboratory best practices.
• Assist with investigations related to out-of-specification (OOS) or atypical analytical results.
• Ensure adherence to laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience reviewing and interpreting GC-MS analytical data.
• Strong understanding of chromatographic principles, mass spectrometry, and analytical instrumentation.
• Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Preferred Background

• Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable: Food & Beverage, Flavors & Fragrances, Consumer Products, Environmental Testing, Tobacco, Pharmaceutical, or other regulated laboratory environments.
