About the Role

Manages client relationships and daily administration of assigned Global Capital Markets (GCM) accounts that may have significant complexity and risk, including all administrative, operational, and risk management activities for GCM transactions. Serves as the main point of contact with clients and internal and external service partners to follow short and long-term strategies for sustainable earnings growth and compliance with Bank and Division strategic plans. Participates in the development and delivery of innovative products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor relevant administrative and operational systems, databases, and activity related to accounts of moderate to complex risk levels to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Review, analyze, and provide comments to counsel related to negotiation and drafting of operative documents and agreements for assigned accounts.
  • Coordinate activities related to monitoring risks and ensuring regulatory compliance for assigned accounts with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and/or Audit as required.
  • Research and resolve issues related to control and client service aspects of assigned accounts in a timely manner to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Work with external parties, including attorneys, financial advisors, and alliance/service partners, to structure and close GCM transactions.
  • Complete various account administration activities of moderate to significant intricacy, including cash flow execution, fee billing, internal and external reporting, and tickler processing.
  • Participate in sales calls to current and prospective clients, prepare fee proposals, and evaluate fees for suitability and conformance with fee schedules.
  • Partner with Fee Billing to monitor and collect aged receivables.
  • Manage relationships with current and prospective clients and referral sources to uncover new business opportunities.
  • Provide coverage and support for other Relationship Managers within the assigned Section/Unit.
  • Represent GCM at transaction closings, attend and chair client meetings, and prepare documentation to support client relationships.
  • Lead or represent GCM in departmental projects and corporate initiatives, including product development, fee structures, and policy procedures.
  • Direct and monitor less experienced Relationship Managers and Client Administrators in executing cash flows, fee billing, and reporting.
  • Work with management to identify opportunities to enhance GCM’s control environment, products, and client service model.
  • Advise management on product changes, competitive landscape shifts, and regulatory rulings that may impact GCM’s control environment or profitability.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, including performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations.
  • Adhere to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, implementing and maintaining internal controls to mitigate risk.
  • Promote an inclusive environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand and maintains internal control standards.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ client service experience in Global Capital Markets products or markets, OR a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including at least 3 years in Global Capital Markets.
  • High proficiency with personal computers and relevant software.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting legal documents.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Familiarity with corporate structures, relevant laws, and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory and/or work leadership experience.
  • CCTS (Certified Corporate Trust Specialist) certification.
  • Working knowledge of specialized internal software applications.
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership in jobs or projects.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $106,700.00 - $177,900.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
