GBM - Private - Investment Banking Associate, Activism & Shareholder Advisory - New York

About the role

The ASA team within M&A is responsible for helping clients stay ahead of and respond to challenges from shareholder activists and hostile raiders, and is a key subject matter expert on activism, hostile / contested M&A, shareholder engagement and corporate governance.

Responsibilities

• Developing tailored analysis alongside Classic teams and furthering client dialogue
• Working on live activism, raid defense and contested M&A situations as part of the broader GS Investment Banking team
• Conducting market research and surveillance on relevant activism, shareholder and governance trends
• Writing thought leadership related to new events and market developments
• Analyzing key trends in the market
• Creating quantitative and qualitative analysis regarding activism vulnerability

Requirements

Small, collaborative team, which provides direct exposure to senior bankers on the team and across the firm

Associates work across all industries and gain broad exposure to Goldman Sachs client base

Core client audience consists of most senior management (C-Suite) and Board of Directors to which the ASA Team has direct exposure and dialogue

Involvement in some of the most important and high-profile situations and transactions
