Gas Utility Laborer
About the role
This entry-level position serves as a Gas Crew Apprentice, providing initial training and hands-on experience in general labor tasks such as excavation, trenching, and shoring around existing utility structures. The apprentice will work closely with a seasoned Foreman and fellow crew members, including Equipment Operators and Pipefitters, to gain industry-specific skills.
Responsibilities
- Use hand tools to dig around existing utility structures to prevent damage
- Load and unload equipment and materials
- Keep worksite clean and organized free from unnecessary hazards
- Perform regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment
- Maintain all industry required Operator Qualifications
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- A strong desire to learn a new trade
Qualifications
Applicants should have a valid Driver’s License and a high school diploma or equivalent. No prior experience is necessary, as the position provides comprehensive training.
Skills
Strong physical abilities are required, including the capacity for prolonged and repetitive tasks such as lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, feeling, crouching, and crawling. Applicants should also demonstrate proficiency in English and the ability to work safely in a constantly alert state.
