Gas Tech Trainee

Responsibilities

• Aid in routine inspections of landfill gas collection systems.
• Work alongside Lead Landfill Gas Technicians to learn system operations and compliance requirements.
• Support monitoring of gas wells and probes using basic equipment under supervision.
• Aid in maintenance of pneumatic pumps, including removal and basic inspections.
• Help monitor liquid levels in gas wells.
• Learn and support HDPE pipe fusion and repair processes.
• Maintain safe working conditions and follow all site safety procedures.
• Perform general labor and support tasks around the landfill as needed.

Requirements

• Willingness to learn and be trained in gas system operations.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Experience with basic hand and power tools preferred, but not required.
• Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as training progresses.

Skills

• Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience (construction, labor, equipment, etc.).
• Interest in environmental or landfill operations.
• Desire to grow into a Gas Technician role.

Pay

Starts at $21–$22/hr with bonuses: $1,000 bonus at 6 months and $1,500 bonus at 1 year.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 6:30am – 4:30pm (40–50 hours per week) with an on-call rotation once every 5 weeks (weekend coverage required).
