Responsibilities

  • Support the crew by assisting with the installation and repair of gas lines.
  • Gather materials for the job that day and ensure the crew has everything required.
  • Distribute material at the job site.
  • Hand locate existing utilities.
  • Hand grade landscape areas.
  • Safely operate equipment, such as rubber-tired backhoe, skid steer loader, directional drill, trencher, asphalt paving machine, etc.
  • Utilize equipment after the Operator digs the ditch line for gas mains.
  • Lift heavy natural gas pipelines for installation, when needed.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 1 year of gas utility construction experience.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years of gas utility construction experience.

Skills

  • Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
  • Precise hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment and routinely requires:

  • Extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
  • Working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
  • Physically active work, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
