Gas Engineer / Meter Installer
About the role
Calor Gas is the UK’s leading LPG supplier, offering off-grid energy solutions for heating, cooking and other needs to homes and businesses across sectors such as agriculture, transport and manufacturing. The Customer Engineering team is recruiting an engaging and proactive Gas Engineer to deliver engineering services and emergency response to Calor customers in Carlisle and the surrounding areas.
We are ideally looking for a smart meter or gas meter installer who would like to retrain to service and maintain Calor gas tanks, pipework and equipment. Full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Installing and maintaining Calor’s bulk tanks and assets at customer sites
- Travelling (van and fuel provided) to meet customer service standards across a largely rural customer base
- Participating in a standby rota to respond to gas emergencies outside normal working hours; additional rates of pay apply
Requirements
- ACS Gas Qualified
- A full, manual UK driving licence
- Experience dealing with customers and delivering excellent customer care
- Any relevant gas engineering experience (understanding of LPG and the installation and maintenance of bulk LPG tanks and cylinders is advantageous)
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards, including health and safety awareness
- Ability to follow procedures and instructions
Training and support
As part of Calor’s field-based team, you will complete the company’s training programme to build the skills and knowledge required for installation and maintenance work. This includes the expertise needed to support the 24/7 emergency response service.

Salary: £32,900 – £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience
