Gas Dock & Retail Clerk

About the role

The Lakeside Restaurant Management Internship is responsible for completing weekly inventory and maintaining appropriate product levels, working closely with the Ship Store Manager and gas dock employees to coordinate their involvement with the Love Shack when needed, and preparing and serving drinks, sandwiches, snacks, and other food items. Interns must be professional, maintain a positive attitude, and uphold Mau Marine’s mission to make every aspect of the boating experience easy and enjoyable for customers through an expert team dedicated to excellence in customer satisfaction. The role reports to the Marina Pro Shop Manager, with key internal relationships including Gas Dock & Retail Clerks, Marina Pro Shop Intern, and Accounting Management, and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the daily operation of the Love Shack.
• Manage all aspects of opening, operating, and closing the location.
• Complete weekly inventory and maintain appropriate product levels.
• Handle ordering of food, beverages, and supplies.
• Prepare and serve drinks, sandwiches, snacks, and other food items.
• Ensure the Love Shack is clean, organized, stocked, and ready for guests.
• Provide friendly, efficient, and welcoming customer service.
• Work closely with the Ship Store Manager and gas dock employees to coordinate their involvement with the Love Shack when needed.
• Monitor inventory and product usage to help control waste and costs.
• Identify and address operational needs throughout the season.
• Ensure food service and daily operations are handled safely and efficiently.
• Take initiative to improve the guest experience and overall operation of the Love Shack.
• Work Mau Marine special events as needed.
• Other duties as presented by management.

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Hospitality, Management, or a related field
• Must be ServSafe Certification or willing to obtain certification
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Detail-oriented and multi-tasking skills
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance
• Works extended hours, outside of regular shift schedule, as required by operational needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members
• Capability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude
