Garifuna Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Garifuna-English phone interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate and concise interpretations of conversations between Garifuna and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Concentrate, stay detached, and remain neutral during sensitive calls.
• Adapt to LLS technology enhancements to improve service delivery.
• Provide service within a dynamic environment, including high call volumes and emotional calls.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Garifuna and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive topics like end of life conversations and matters concerning sexual orientation and gender expression.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must have access to a quiet space and a reliable internet connection.
• Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse for long periods.

Pay
