GARDENER OPERATOR
About the role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and qualified candidate to join the Shire of Broome as a Gardener Operator. Role This role forms part of a flexible operational workforce, undertaking horticultural, landscaping, irrigation, environmental, turf and plant operation activities across the Shire's parks, reserves, streetscapes, sporting facilities and public open spaces.
- Day-to-day work includes: Planting, pruning, mowing, edging, mulching, fertilising, weed management and garden establishment
- Environmental maintenance including weed control, revegetation support and natural area maintenance
- Basic irrigation maintenance and repairs
- Operating and maintaining plant and equipment including tractors, mowers, brush cutters and turf equipment
- Supporting arboriculture activities including tree maintenance and planting
- Safe use and application of agricultural chemicals

Requirements
Essential Prior experience in landscaping, horticulture, agriculture or a related field
Able to operate, and where appropriate maintain, associated plant and equipment
Experience working outdoors in a physical role
White Card
C Class driver's licence, with a willingness to attain MR
Qualifications
Desirable Certificate III (or above) in Horticulture, Conservation Land Management or a related field
Knowledge and experience identifying and maintaining local flora
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work well in a team, with a willingness to work outdoors in the tropical Broome climate.

About You
Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work well in a team, with a willingness to work outdoors in the tropical Broome climate. Background knowledge in parks, reserves and garden maintenance is essential, and horticultural knowledge of local flora, pests and weeds will be highly regarded.
