Gardener

Location: Montgomery & Tuskegee, AL. Duration: Up to 12 months, contingent upon contract award.

About the role

Loyal Source is seeking skilled Gardeners to support the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) at the Montgomery and Tuskegee campuses.

Responsibilities

• Use blowers to clean parking lots, sidewalks, and building entrances.
• Empty and dispose of trash from outdoor trash receptacles.
• Perform weed eating and general landscape maintenance as needed.
• Install pine straw and/or mulch and prepare flower beds.
• Collect and remove leaves from all exterior surfaces.
• Cut grass using push lawn mowers.
• Trim hedges, bushes, and shrubbery.
• Plant flowers and other landscape materials as needed.
• Operate hand tools and power tools commonly used in grounds maintenance and landscaping.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, gardening, or a related field.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to work in temperatures exceeding 100°F.
• Ability to work in noisy environments and wear required hearing protection.
• Ability to work around potentially hazardous materials and conditions, including chemicals, oils, fumes, dirt, grease, and machinery.
• Ability to wear and safely work while using an OSHA-approved respirator and pass fit testing requirements.
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain OSHA 30 Certification.

Pay

$23.35/hr
