About the role
Work in a beautiful garden, tending to and harvesting vegetables, herbs, fruits and cut flowers at the Hay Creek Garden, Suncadia's kitchen garden, where produce is grown for resort restaurants and summer activities and tours are provided for guests.
Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and be ready to work when shift begins
- Prepare soil/ground for spring flower planting
- Select, plant, water, weeding, harvest and deliver produce to create a beautiful and productive environment
- Weed and cultivate planting beds on a regular basis to ensure a clean, attractive resort environment
- Dead-head annual flowers regularly to create prolific blooming
- Water the garden by hand when necessary
- Clean out dead annual flowers
- Prune shrubs at appropriate times and as needed
- Offer whatever assistance guests need and provide garden tours for visitors
- Store tools in their proper places
- Be knowledgeable about Suncadia's services and history to answer guests' questions
- Show enthusiasm to ensure guest satisfaction
- Ask for help when you need it
- Digging and repairing irrigation lines
- Follow all safety standards and use proper personal protective equipment
- Time management is a must. The ability to complete tasks on a timely & professional manner
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Must hold a valid Washington State driver's license
- Experience in planting and weeding
- Ability to safely operate small power tools
- Ability to take direction and contribute atmosphere
- Able to safely lift 50 pounds, carry loads and lift items overhead
- Constant walking, standing, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, stooping, and moving during working hours
- Must have enough English language skills to take direction, communicate and perform job standards
- Self-motivated: can find work to do without supervision
- Willing to learn and do new jobs
- Plant knowledge is a plus
Pay
$19.00/hr
Schedule
Seasonal position with targeted start and end dates: Season Start: As soon as possible, Season End: 10-31-2026. Hours will fluctuate as business levels rise and fall throughout the season. Peak season, with the most hours, is typically May – October.
