Game Design Manager- Lorcana
Key Responsibilities
- People Development: Act as a coach and mentor. You’ll conduct 1:1s, set performance goals, and chart career paths for designers ranging from Junior to Senior levels.
- Creative Resourcing: Manage the "board state" of our workflow. You’ll allocate designers to specific sets and expansions, ensuring no one is over-inked and that every project has the right mix of talent.
- Culture of Feedback: Facilitate design reviews and playtests that are constructive, inclusive, and rigorous. You’ll help designers separate their egos from their mechanics to reach the best possible version of the game.
- Cross-Functional Bridge: Serve as the primary liaison between Design and other departments (Art, Play & Events, Production). You translate "designer-speak" into "business-speak" and vice-versa.
- Lay the Groundwork: Collaborate with Game and Play Design managers to innovate the process to improve and refine our workflow.
This is what we need you for
This is what you can score highly with:
- Leadership Experience: 5+ years of managing creative teams.
- Love What You Do: Know TCGs inside and out. What makes them tick or tock, and where sprinkling pixie dust would get the best value.
- The Disney Spark: A deep appreciation for Disney storytelling. You understand how to translate a character's "soul" into a game mechanic.
- Emotional Intelligence: High EQ. You can read the room, handle "tapped out" employees with empathy, and keep morale high during design cycles.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills. You can deliver tough feedback compassionately and pitch big ideas boldly.
- Data Drives you: You understand that while data informs the floor of a game's balance, "fun" creates the ceiling. You know how to use data to validate creative risks rather than using it to stifle them.
