About the role
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining the center premises and its equipment in a clean, safe, healthy, and comfortable condition, both inside and outside.
Responsibilities
- Perform general custodial tasks including cleaning, sanitizing, repairing, and painting as needed.
- Maintain the facility in a clean and safe environment at all times.
- Follow daily and weekly work schedules and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Keep a simple inventory of supplies, noting items on hand and those needed for replenishment.
- Ensure common areas, classrooms, restrooms, offices, and outdoor spaces remain clean and orderly.
- Communicate any maintenance or safety concerns to the Program Director promptly.
- Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with staff, children, parents, and visitors to the center.
- Assist with minor repairs or coordinate with vendors/maintenance when necessary.
- Support the general operation of the center by performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Related experience in general custodial duties, including cleaning, repairing, and painting.
- Ability to read and write to follow written work schedules and instructions.
- Ability to maintain a simple inventory of supplies.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff, children, parents, and visitors.
- Ability to ensure the facility is consistently clean and safe.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency diploma required.
