About the role

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining the center premises and its equipment in a clean, safe, healthy, and comfortable condition, both inside and outside.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general custodial tasks including cleaning, sanitizing, repairing, and painting as needed.
  • Maintain the facility in a clean and safe environment at all times.
  • Follow daily and weekly work schedules and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Keep a simple inventory of supplies, noting items on hand and those needed for replenishment.
  • Ensure common areas, classrooms, restrooms, offices, and outdoor spaces remain clean and orderly.
  • Communicate any maintenance or safety concerns to the Program Director promptly.
  • Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with staff, children, parents, and visitors to the center.
  • Assist with minor repairs or coordinate with vendors/maintenance when necessary.
  • Support the general operation of the center by performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Related experience in general custodial duties, including cleaning, repairing, and painting.
  • Ability to read and write to follow written work schedules and instructions.
  • Ability to maintain a simple inventory of supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff, children, parents, and visitors.
  • Ability to ensure the facility is consistently clean and safe.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or High School Equivalency diploma required.
