About the role

The School Bus Monitor position is under the general supervision of the Director of Transportation and works 182 days per year.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
  • Attends annual DOE School Bus Driver Safety meeting and all school bus training programs and courses as prescribed
  • Maintains orderly conduct of student passengers and remains alert to students’ needs
  • Assists with conducting emergency evacuation drills as directed by the Transportation Department
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with school staff and public
  • Completes required reports legibly and accurately in the prescribed manner and on a timely basis
  • Provides maximum safety for passengers while on the bus and during loading/unloading
  • Assists with medical procedures for students
  • Maintains a good working relationship with the driver and proper storage of all student equipment
  • Maintains confidentiality and works effectively and cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and staff
  • Handles all duties in a timely and organized manner and performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
