About the Role

Great lighting doesn't just make content look beautiful—it tells the story, establishes the mood, and influences how audiences feel about a brand within seconds. As a Gaffer, you'll play a vital role in bringing our creative vision to life by designing and executing lighting setups that enhance every production. Working closely with Directors, Producers, Cinematographers, and the production crew, you'll ensure every shot meets the highest visual standards while maintaining an efficient and safe production environment. Whether we're filming premium lifestyle campaigns, beauty commercials, product demonstrations, or high-volume social media ads, your expertise will help transform creative concepts into visually compelling content that drives results.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Execute Lighting Setups
    • Develop lighting plans that support the creative vision of each production.
    • Set up and operate lighting equipment for studio and on-location shoots.
    • Create lighting that complements different products, skin tones, environments, and brand aesthetics.
    • Adapt lighting setups quickly to meet changing production needs.
  • Collaborate with the Production Team
    • Work closely with Directors of Photography, Producers, Directors, Camera Operators, and Grip teams.
    • Interpret creative briefs and translate them into effective lighting solutions.
    • Support efficient production workflows while maintaining exceptional visual quality.
    • Communicate equipment and staffing needs prior to production.
  • Maintain Equipment & Studio Readiness
    • Inspect, organize, and maintain lighting equipment, power distribution, and accessories.
    • Ensure equipment is properly stored, tested, and production-ready.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues related to lighting and electrical systems.
    • Recommend new equipment and workflow improvements that enhance production quality.
  • Ensure Safety on Set
    • Maintain safe electrical practices and proper cable management.
    • Follow studio safety procedures and ensure all lighting equipment is securely installed.
    • Help create a safe, organized, and efficient production environment for cast and crew.
  • Contribute to Creative Excellence
    • Collaborate with the creative team to continuously improve production quality.
    • Stay current with emerging lighting techniques, equipment, and production technologies.
    • Share ideas that improve efficiency, consistency, and creative execution across productions.

Requirements

  • Experienced Gaffer
    • 3+ years of professional experience as a Gaffer, Chief Lighting Technician, or Lighting Technician in commercial, television, digital media, or studio productions.
    • Experience working in high-volume production environments is highly preferred.
    • Experience with commercial advertising or social media content production is a strong advantage.
  • Technical Lighting Expert
    • Strong understanding of cinematic lighting techniques, color temperature, exposure, diffusion, shaping, and power distribution.
    • Experience working with LED lighting systems, DMX-controlled lighting, and professional cinema lighting equipment.
    • Comfortable working with a wide variety of cameras and production setups.
  • Collaborative Production Professional
    • Communicate effectively with Directors, Cinematographers, Producers, and crew members.
    • Understand how lighting supports storytelling and balance creative vision with production efficiency.
    • Dependable under pressure and remain calm in fast-paced production environments.
  • Organized & Solution-Oriented
    • Anticipate production needs before they become problems.
    • Take pride in maintaining equipment, preparing efficient lighting setups, and keeping productions running smoothly.
    • Adapt quickly when creative direction or production schedules change.
